Description
There's a halo 'round the moon
So I know it ain't to blame
'Cause I knew what love could do...
(Steve Earle )
A halo formed around the moon is a fairly common sight that occurs when high thin clouds containing millions of tiny ice crystals cover much of the sky. Each ice crystal acts like a miniature lens. To be honest I didn't think of the scientific explanation when I watched this moon looking at the thinning crowds after the bonfire. The woman under the statue on the foreground looked pensive and alone, and made me think of the song.
The canal that surrounds the small island in the centre of Prato della Valle square is one of the few visible parts of it after the interrement in the 1950s.

Great setting for this night shot!!!
Did not know what caused the halos around the moon. Learned something new from your narrative. Like the marble statues around the canel. Dana
Great photo, wonderful!!
This is very beautiful photo and u did awesome capture sandra..
Beautiful image! My eyes traveled down the river, toward the moon, between the statues who all looked fixedly the other way. They look towards the lights, the buildings and the people. Yet in my solitary journey down the river, I see all of that too, reflected beautifully in the dark water. I dipped my fingers in, and touched the moon. I hope the woman met someone. On such a beautiful night, one should not be alone, unless perhaps, one has a date with the moon.
Great night shot. Awesome
