Description
Those in the UK may well have seen Cranford a TV series set in the fictional village of Cranford a delightful period piece, but many of the scenes were shot in Lacock where it has been said "The hands of time bewitched stand still"
Lacock is an enchanting and captivating village, in Wiltshire, almost owned completely by the National Trust. Like this beautiful Inn the streets are full of buildings dating back to the 13th Century, the village church of St Cyriac dates to the Medieval period but there was a church here in Saxon times.
Wander down the lane from here and find the pack horse bridge, and then the Medieval bridge over the River Avon. Every Century is represented from the 13th to the 19th and is pure joy for artists, and photographers and in view of the fact modern photography saw the birth of it here in Lacock Manor where Fox Talbot in September 1840 discovered the phenomenon of the latent image.

Fine shot, awesome place.
very romantic!!!! FANTASTIC picture!!!!
outstanding shot!
Excellent work!!
The latent image huh? That was a powerful discovery...I for one, am REALLY glad that Fox Talbot had his thinking cap on in this beautiful little town. Your just enough story sets the scene perfectly for this history laden scene.
Gorgeous!!
Lacock is close to Chippenham where Bob Rudd, my artist friend, lives and who supose to give watercolor lessons at some shool at Lacock. We've been there, and I can tell you, if you love historic sites, its photographers heaven. Wonderful Photograph Daniel!
Exquisite work Danny! It looks almost unreal! Another "have to visit" place! Well done indeed! :)
Danny I really love this photo of this magical place. This is so perfectly preserved it is almost like taking a trip back in time.
I love looking at these houses .. they are so enchanting ! fabulous
precious place!
Lovely painterly picture set in a village, which, i think, is devoid of television ariels, the blight on so many photographs.
Great..........
Very good.
Such a charming inn, I really love the effect you did with this, it gives it such a crispness without over doing it, and softly brings out the details. Lovely work.
Escapism at it's finest... Beautiful image.

Lovely image. I have to investigate HDR. It makes all the difference.
This seems to be a very nice village. Very nice photo. I also like the HDR effect. Well done.
Awesome capture! Amazing clarity you can zoom in, to read the Wadworth sign hanging from the one building to the left of the Inn. I wonder what Fox Talbot would think of HDR?
