Description
Neuschwanstein is one of the Koeniglichen Schloesser in Bavaria, Germany. A Schloss is a castle and this one was built by the Bavarian King Ludwig II.
This picture was taken on 28 December 2009.
A comment about this trip. Anything that could have gone wrong did go wrong. All weather related. Europe is experiencing the coldest winter in three decades, but comparisons with the North and/or South Pole are a little exaggerated.
Anyone that has spent a winter in the American Mid-West would laugh about the 'cold'. But because the temperatures are lower than normal, it is wrecking havoc with traffic; road, rail and air.
The one good thing that came out of it is that any possible onset of Alzheimer's should be delayed. I am busy trying to recoup extra incurred costs and/or cancelled hotel charges.

This looks great, is that a castle type building in the hills there?? Nice capture of this winter scene..
What a gorgeous scene! I'm glad you got your photos uploaded, and am looking forward to seeing pictures of your trip! This is just stunning. Those mountains are amazing!
That is a beautiful castle (and surrounding area) with an interesting history. I got to tour there when I was living in Germany. I really love Bavaria.
Beginning to wonder if you were OK. Happy to see you back. Awesome shot of Bavaria and is that "the" castle? Ludwid II's castle? If so WOW! Dana

Wirklich wenig Schnee für Bayern! Schön, dass Du heil nach Hause gekommen bist. Grüße von junge2

wunderschön! Das Schloß verschwindet fast im Winterwald!!!
A Castle! And I bet you its not small... But,look at that mountain.. It dwarfs everything below it.. Nature at it its best! Brilliant.. Rob

Welcome back, Sig! I'm sorry to hear that your trip to Europe was not the top! Indeed, the climate has been and continues to be very hard! The picture is outstanding! :)
Welcome back Sig. You'll have all of us on the edge of our seats with photos like this. I've been to Neuschwanstein years ago...took the tour through the front gate and up to the throne room and past the Wagnerian murals. Your photo gives me a new impression of the entire scene. In calendar type photos...the castle looks dominant...but now I see how the mountains dominate the works of man once again! Going to my favorites. This just brings back to many good memories:)
Gorgeous image!!
