Description
It is almost midnight here in South Africa and I am deeply shocked and saddened by the horrible aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti. I have been watching CNN and SKY and to see the destruction and devastation but more importantly the human suffering and pain is almost unbearable.
To the people of Haiti - may God carry you all through this unthinkable time of need and sorrow.

near to their grief
This is very thoughtful of you, Yes it is a terrible situation and makes us all stop and think how vulnerable we are to mother nature, Beautiful photo !!! Cheers, Roger
Oh Yes!
Beautiful dedi Carin! My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to them as well.
What a gorgeous photo...the lighting is superb, almost myterious. Going straightaway to favorites. Things are bad, bad in Haiti...but that poor place just goes from tragedy to tragedy. I like to think of living life on the mountain tops...those folks never get to leave the valley floors.
This photo is a perfect expression of the grief I feel over this almost unimaginable tragedy.
Amen!
Wonderful full of Dark mood, I agree with your sentiment.
very enticing superlative work !!!!
very beautiful photo Carin .. its very sad and devastating....Prayers are needed for these poor souls
I cannot even imagine what these people are going through...to know that schools full of children and hospitals full of patients have collapsed...I think we all tend to take things for granted, but when we hear of a tragedy like this, it makes you stop and think of all that we have.... Prayers going out to all those affected.
Beautiful and thoughtful...
Beautiful composition and colors! Always sad when natural disasters stike like this...
Terrific artwork in the composition and poignant sentiment in your narrative, Carin. Extremely unusual for an earthquake to hit in that part of the world. Since no one in the area ever prepared for that eventuality, that is one of the reasons there is so much death and devastation.
Thank you for your homage to the people of this country lets storm the throne of Heaven with our prayers for these people
Striking image Carin and I had to look up the Haiti earthquake as my little guy doesn't let me watch the news anymore. It looks horrible and it could happen to any of us at anytime I guess.
This is astonishing. The pov really is hypnotic.
What an absolutely stunning photograph, Dierbaar. You take my breath away! A beautiful piece of art in dedication to those going through some very bad times.
Oh, this is a fantastically stunning piece of photography! Perfect work! This goes beyond a mere photograph and stands as something moving and stunning in its own right. And then to use it as a heart-felt dedication to those who need a lot more than they're going to be getting! WOW! Incredibly touching! This is sensitive and perfect work on every possible level!
I do so love clouds, always looking up to see what beauty nature has delivered for a fleeting moment. Great dedication, Clive
An outstanding image and dedication. I've been watching coverage during the day and have gone through feelings of heartbreak, being inspired and disgust today. Heartbreak for the death and devastation in this poor country, Feeling inspired for my country's rapid response to the tragedy and disgust because one public person claims the Haitians brought this on themselves because they made a pact with the devil to win their independence from France while another has suggested our response was done for political gain. I cannot remember a time when I felt both proud and ashamed of being an American on the same day.
What a beautiful dedication to the poor people of Haiti, Carin.
A stunning shot and a very moving dedi!!
An impressive mood you captured here. Fantastic shot and dedication!
Superb, wonderful, perfect picture! I like the way you highlighted the different cloud layers in the sky. It makes it so intense, as your dedication!
I am with you wholly on the earthquake. It's the most impoverished nation in this hemisphere (the americas) and its impoverishment meant poor building codes, horrible destruction and poor infrastructure to fight the effects of the destruction. It's a wrenching combination. And hard to respond to a picture like this properly, since it's for people who are suffering greatly. But somehow you caught both the fury of disaster & a transcendent light & power beyond it, as if to say that beyond this catastrophe, light still remains. The upper clouds are sheer painting, the lower one is resplendent, and the silhouetted tree & ground are almost like the victims--bold, reaching but in darkness. A powerful image in its own right, and a powerful dedication to the lost & injured of Haiti.
Everyone thinks of the poor people in Haiti.... Wonderful picture!
Very thoughtful of you Carin... And a powerful 'natural' looking picture to convey the right feel.. Well done.. Rob
Awesome picture for this dedi to the people of Haiti, very hard to imagine what they are going through.
amazing capture and dedication, Carin!
