Description
The last in my series of three on the blue moon.
I should have moved the tripod to get some branch silhouettes to add to the picture. I was lazy, so just used the shadow of the earth instead!
Taken in South Africa near Malmesbury, about 40km north of Cape Town.
Shine on!

great capture...
Very sharp capture, nice. We had a partial eclipse here on Sylvester eve too, but there where to much clouds and fog.
Grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! You are so lucky to have been on the right spot at the right time on a cloudless night! This is history Clive - the partial eclipse on New Year's eve on a Blue Moon night! WOW... fantastic and I am so jealous! :))
It is sinking in slowly...a partial eclipse of a blue moon??? Holycow, Batman!!! What a great shot.
Great fullmoon shot and so rare to find a partial eclipse!!! Excellent work!!! :)
Superb capture Clive. I will give moon shots a go as soon as i have my 300 mm lens. There is a good chance that my sigma repaired lens will be replaced by a new one.
An outstanding moon shot! Its so rare to get a clear (big) one in the UK... Great series... Rob
