Description
The Museum of Glass has a working glass factory called The Hot Shop where visiting artists and apprentice workers create glass artwork. Some of the gallery exhibits were created here. The center image is an overview of The Hot Shop. The other pictures show the visiting artist at work heating and then forming the glass. I remember thinking how easy he made it look. Then the docent mentioned that he had been working in glass for forty years. No wonder he made it look so easy. When you travel in a group your time is not your own. As a result I did not have the opportunity to photograph the finished product.

Excellent shots and grouping! Very interesting tools on his work table. I love watching artists work with glass. They do make it seem so easy. Nice set up in the museum, where you can walk along the top and get views from different angles. Very nicely done!

Absolutely fascinating! We didn't have a glass studio at my art school, so I specialised in Studio Pottery with printmaking as my second subject. But I still have a yen to have a go at this! I LOVE that beard...another thing that probably wouldn't be allowed in a public workplace here for 'elf n safety'!

Two weeks ago I watched a cable tv show that took the cameras through a glass factory. I never knew there were so many different steps for so many different ways to work with glass. This is a great selection of still shots of the process.

I once had a friend who was a glass blower and he blew an entire clipper ship (not full size of course). It was an incredible thing to see. It's really nice to see it's still being taught. You may not have had much time to take pictures but the ones you did take give a wonderful look into this steps. Excellent selections! Perhaps you can go back some time.
