Description
Goodbye, my friend.
I lost a very special friend yesterday. She is one of those people who is always there. I see I’m still using present tense; I can’t quite believe she’s gone. JoAnn and I have known each other for 30 years, her daughter and my son went to school together. We were always running into each other at all those events that schools have, from parent’s night to bake sales to class trips.
JoAnn was one of those people who was always there, you knew you could call her and she’d come right over. She’d cry, laugh, yell and scream right along with you, and when she left, you felt a whole lot better. She was a rock, solid, strong and one of the most genuine people I’ve ever known.
Two weeks ago, I heard she was going into the hospital for some tests. It all came about suddenly. I saw her at Midnight Mass, but didn’t get to talk to her. Then yesterday she went in for surgery; she had cancer. I don’t know the details, but apparently a blood clot hit her heart shortly after they began the operation. It was that quick.
She will leave a hole in my life, for those of us left behind. But for her 4 children, the loss is far greater. I’ll be singing at her funeral, and it will be the only way I can say goodbye.
I’ll miss you, JoAnn. Rest in peace and may you find that place one of glory and wonder, light and love.

Your title always makes a heart skip a beat...asking who might it be...someone I know? These things that happen so fast leaves everyone thunderstruck. The wife, the husband, the child, the friend, the partner, that has always been there for you is gone. There is a hole in the heart...I know. My shoulder is always available. May your friend rest in peace and may you find solace in her now being in a better place.
So sad. I am so sorry...I feel for you...this past December 22nd I lost an close uncle and my best friends ex-husband (they were still friends), was killed the 24th, my Birthday...so this hits very close to home...Someone once told me, they are never truly gone if they are never forgotten. Hang on to that and may you rest in peace dear JoAnn.
My condolences to you for the loss of your friend. It is very difficult for me to hear such news as I just lost my father this past March. I know exactly how you feel. Everyday I stop myself from picking up the phone to call him remembering he will not answer. The Lord knows why these things must happen for now she is with him. I will place you in my prayers. May the lord give you the strength to sing for your friend with all the love you have in your heart for her.
Oh Marilyn this is so sad my friend. My condolences to you and also to her family.. I know you will miss her so much.. I will pray that you have the strength to sing at the funeral.. May the God of Peace and the peace of God be with you at this time...

I was answering a site mail message and thought I would browse the galleries That is relaxing for me...and saw this one..almost pulled to open it...and thought OMG..I am in remission 15 yrs for breast cancer...now I have it in my bones....found all this out in 2005...had bone scan done the other day and my family Dr thinks mine has spread..can't operate due to where it is at..and he said if they opened me up to do a biopsy it would spread like wildfire... I was in shock...have cried..was hoping this would be a good report but it wasn't..and when you described JoAnn I thought geez this sounds like me.. I will say a prayer for you and Joann's family tonight if you will send me a e mail with their name...It is alway hard to lose someone you love....... But her memories you will have always........... In love and serenity Susan~aka~Blush~

I am so sorry for your loss Marilyn. You will still have her with you inside, as long as you remember her, so she is not totally lost for you, but I feel with you.
Thinking of you in your loss, Marilyn.
Hearing you talk about JoAnn this morning, remembering good times and bad times, was such a gift. I know what an adjustment this is going to be, and you know I'll listen as long as you need to talk. Sending hugs and loads of love ...
Marilyn i'm so sorry for your loss. Can't find the right words in your language, but can fell what you are feel!!
I am so sorry to learn of this,....sigh,..and to have been such great friends for so long, I would think her to be more like family to you. Once again I find myself wishing I knew some magic words of comfort,..anything that would help you and her family and friends to feel less sad. An electronic hug just doesn't seem to suffice, but that is the only means I have. Please take good care Marilyn, and revel in the time you did share.....miss her fondly. You are in our thoughts and prayers. XXXXXXXXXX Dave

I'm really sorry to hear that.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. This is a lovely tribute to what sounds like a wonderful person and a good friend. You take care.
take care, Marilyn warm hugs care too, Linda
what a powerful dedication and expression of honest, true emotion. That's what friendship is all about, and you've shown that exquisitely here. I hate that you've lost a vital friend, but on a level you haven't; you are such a vibrant and vivid and lively and caring friend that even someone's passing won't diminish the real links that you've established. Death is always such a hard thing, but at the same time friendship and love really transcend it. There is no such thing as "till death do we part" in marriage, friendship, or any other human relationship, because YOUR emotions are still there, and still alive, and what you've written and expressed here is absolutely wonderful in it's touching honesty. A blood clot took a member of the living from you (and in a sense, all of us) but what you've expressed here, is wonderfully poignant in that it gives voice to a life as well. What a tribute! How beautifully profound! You have my sympathies (Corey's and Victor's and Pavl's too.) And for my part, I'm sending a big hug your way.
Gosh Marilyn, I am so sorry to hear of your loss! I can understand what you will go thru with this loss as I lost my roommate and best friend of 14 years a few years ago. Its a lovely tribute to her and in my heart I know she will be with you a very long time. My sincere sympathies and blessings to you and all who loved her.
a moving tribute to your friend, she will always be with you.
