Description
This is a late posting for Harry's (goodoleboy's) birthday. Sorry Harry...you may see this a day late but know my heart is in the right place:-) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
For those who don't know, Harry is a member of what we here in the USA call the "Greatest Generation",...a World War II veteran. Although I am off by one war...Harry, I hope you'll like this military theme for your birthday.
Reflections in this glass case are meant to drive you just a little nutty. LOL.
Location...National World War I Museum, Kansas City.

Excellent shot!
Your artist is showing through!!!!!
Very nice display Bill. I think that Harry liked it. Great dedi to one of this nations veterans. Dana
first, though he won't see it because of the late date, happy birthday harry by all means! And many more! As for the picture, it's a melange of worlds colliding into worlds, and the hand grenades are like fruits hanging in the balance. (In fact, you probably knew it, but "grenade" was named after "pomegranite," the fruit. So fruit isn't totally inappropriate...) You always do wonderful things with museum angles & sweeps & especially lighting, and in this picture it's like you allowed many pictures to just marinate over night until they became one. it's hard to tell whether this grenade belongs to this statue, or it's from another place...a wonderful mix & match of imagery; and the grenades in this setting are almost ornaments hanging from a tree. Also nice use of zig zag diagonals---presumably the walls zig zagging in front of the glass or behind it: It gives diagonal motion to the whole piece. Really, this is as much graphic and light-painting as photography, and shows your intensifying journey into those realms with each new day. Also, the peek into spectators (through the "door" in the reflections) is a wonderful reminder that this is a museum. And the hat & statues just continue the feeling of collage. Keep up this work, you're becoming a real designer of light & image, and it's really really paying off. And finally, this image transforms what is originally a weapon of war into a strange new ornament of art. That's a very positive transformation, which has to have meaning to all who served in that greatest generation. My uncle says too that the veterans are getting fewer, which is why we have to honor them all the more. (He was in Anzio and France, etc.) Love the image, and a very happy birthday to our Harry once more!
Great shot of WWI equipment. That broom handle Mauser and trench club are real artifacts to go along with the variety of grenades - a coupl of whihc look home made!
great photo and lovely dedi!!
