Description
Hi there.
Just a short visit today. This is a larva of the Pale Tussock (Calliteara pudibunda). A teammate of me found her in his garden in autumn and brought her to me for a short photoshooting. The night after the shooting the larva pupated and now I wait for spring to see the imago.
Have a great start in the last week of the year my friends.

Very beautiful and interesting macro shot my friend, excellent capture.
Aka Scrub-brush! What a very interesting critter! Great, sharp photo!
Damn that's sharp- a beautiful specimen! I have to wonder if you spend your days on your hands and knees looking for bugs- regardless, the end result is spectacular my friend- you are the bug king! I see a future for you in science research books, perhaps even National Geographic!
Excellent shot, Markus. I look forward to the adult.
Astonishing wonder. Very fine and a beauti of colors.
neat macro & colors
My word ... they're everywhere! I love the pale lime tones of this one. Excellent capture!
Fantastic object, fantastic shot.
This is exceptionally lovely. The pov is stellar and the detail marvelous. Super macro.
Wow! I have never seen one of these punk larvae down here before! Stunning! Looks like a toy! Clive
My word 'auntietk', Tara was right...suddenly they pop up everywhere ! (incl. mine! - and Chipkas), but yours is just as amazing, different in colour to mine, plus my guess is, we are a long way apart in this world. Super macro, Cheers BB
this is the best of the 3 shots.outstanding definition
This is gorgeous. The tussock moth interlopers in Chicago seem to produce...um...well...um...gaudy larvae, complete with heads the color of over-ripe fire trucks. This is stunning work, and though they're destroyers of trees, I love them for their larvae. I have yet to discover how to capture one and wear it as a well-fed ornament.
