Description
First, come in, sit down and rest a spell.
That is meant to sound Christmassy. I don't usually talk this way. LOL. I think my grandmother used the word "spell" for a duration of time now and then, but she was born about 1890...:)
This image began simply as a "get a picture of the new tree". Then I really got into all those strange and somewhat mysterious other adjustments on most DSLR cameras...white balance, focal points, metering, etc., etc.
So, once again I learned alot about shooting indoors with available light. And my tripod used almost exclusively for birds in the backyard got a workout inside the house.

Nice tree and sideboard! Fossy
Beauty and Class...I like the idea of the train under the tree ;-)
Do you know, every time I've looked at photos of this room, my brain has seen that cabinet with the TV on top and said, "fireplace." I'm looking at this image (and not for the first time!) and suddenly my aged brain clicked in and said, "WTF??? NOT fireplace! LOL!" I have been in so many homes with this floorplan, and every single one of them has a fireplace where you have that cabinet. Talk about assumptions and seeing what we expect to see!! The result you got from your self-tutorial session is impressive! I'm going to have questions for you ...
Oh I would LOVE a train set under my tree!! I have one, but I don't dare put it down that low for my dogs and cat to be tempted to tromp on...lol BEAUTIFUL Christmas decor my fiend....I am so VERY glad you put the tree up. You made my day! :-) Merry Christmas Bill.
Really interesting pic, Bill, and a lovely room..but WHERE IS THE DOG?
A very nice shot. The lighting is very nice -- indoor "normal" lighting usually doesn't look so good.
What a lovely warm and welcoming room Bill! I love the new tree BTW! Excellent! :)
This is a gorgeous and inviting shot! The lighting is fantastic and the tree is perfectly lit. It also looks warm, and that's a great thing since warm isn't something that Chicago does well at this time of year. I love this shot and the comfort it conveys. I particularly like the darker accents in the room and the artwork on the walls...I wanna get up close and examine the pictures and peek into the presents under the tree.
You've really achieved "Christmassy", bill. This image is so inviting and warm feeling that If I lived anywhere hear you I'd be sitting in one of those chairs right now - probably sipping an eggnog - or fiddling with the adjustments on MY camera.
This is so comfortable; it's the kind of room that invites people to sit down and stay a long while!! I'm especially curious about the quilt on your couch, it's beautiful and a wonderful splash of color, but I can't quite tell what the pieces are--animals maybe? Merry Christmas, Bill!!
It says, "Home."
very beautiful room and i like your x'mas tree very nice ..
What a lovely big and warm room so tasteful in decor..
Beautiful & inviting, come in a spell, have a drink & lots of Christmas cheer. You are so tidy & there is that beautiful patchwork.
Beautiful interior!!! How tidy you're!!!! SAndra and me are always in the middle of a battlefield!!! ;D!!!!!
Beautiful capture of your living room Bill seen the quilt before some where... Ah I know where lol. Very lovely tree and as you know that Train under the tre is the highlight for this rail buff.. lol.. Excellent Bill and thanks for inviting us into your home..
superb drawing room!! it looks ready for a pack of brats to run into it! ;-D
very well decorated home you have and outstanding low light capture
Lovely room such warm colors. And I love the decorations and the train nice touch. Great job on catching the lighting.
A highly detailed and lovely portrait of your living room, Bill, with superb lighting effects. It puts my cluttered and messy hovel to shame, although I see you have a long sofa like mine. Merry Christmas to you, my friend! And, this must be an all Christian website because there has been no mention of Hanukkah this month.
A lovely warm and inviting room. A perfect place to be on a cold snowy Christmas eve or day.
Merry Xmas Bill.
Well done!
a very cosy room! Thanks for the invitation - I remain sitting gladly ;-))
Fantastic lighting and capture! :)
a clear and sharp capture ! very cosy place I hope you had a great Christmas day !
This is a very clean and well done shot. Your playing with the settings has really produced a great end result. I am depressed over the organized and well kept room - especially during the holidays - when my house looks like a stegosaurus ambled through it! LOL
Fine shot of a cozy Christmas scene. I like Santa on the TV screen - very nice touch.
Wonderful shot!!!
Awesome shot! Happy Holidays!
