Description
Thought I'd show you why I like to get rid of museum backgrounds and foregrounds some of the time.
[other times they do add to the scene and are left in]
Dayton, Ohio's US Air Force Museum has three gigantic hangars and a giant silo built especially for display of hundreds of aircraft and missiles. There are over 400 on display. AND THAT'S WHY IT IS CROWDED :-)))
I've wanted to do something with this World War I, Italian made, US Army Air Corps bomber but didn't feel I had the time to pull it out of its' surroundings.
Last night I got started and couldn't stop until I got to the wheels which are, "almost in the too hard box" :-) I know I can do them if I want to take an extraordinary amount of time picking around all those spokes.
Please ZOOM if you have a BIG screen.

outstanding capture Bill. I know what you mean about taking a long time around intricate parts
Excellent capture Bill! Making some clip art there for the next DITI? ;D
I think its cool when you can enhance the initial image your trying to show...you do an excellent job with that Bill...thanks for showing us "both" sides of the picture. :-)
Oh gosh - I'll be sending you a load of images who's backgrounds need changing Bill! Excellent job my friend and a super image! :)
Excellent double shot
Well done Bill, you are a master at this! Cheers, Clive
you are extremely clever!
Lots of work. Does this aircraft have two slim fuselages behind the engines, and a pilot/bomardier pod in between?
Nice editing Bill...!!!
Wow Bill, that is great, what a difference!!!
Wheel spokes (like tram cables) are such a pain to pick out when you want to do a great and somewhat quick edit...but the work you've put into this is superb. The original picture is fabulous, and your tweaked version is just as wonderful, with a greater highlight on your subject. Amazing and meticulous editing work. Well done.
marvelous image, great exhibit!!!
oh you did very well, Bill, and yes it looks better without the background...
super job!!! magnificent realization!!!
OMG, you meticulously postworked inbetween the struts and spokes to create this wonderful image, Bill! I also see a ton of cloning. I often have to employ this procedure when doing my outside aircraft and auto displays. Anything for the sake of art.
It really does make a difference when you take out all the extra background but it does take a lot of time. This plane really stands out now.
Wow what a long time it must take to do this Bill you have the patience's of a saint lol mind you it does look good without all the background in there.. well done!!
I can't believe the work that you've done for this comparison collage. Job well done Bill. Dana
very good work!!
You do such good work! Full view is totally worth the trip.
Its very clever! It is... But, I'm not sure if i prefer the natural look.. Because thats what museums are... Mind you Topeka... Now that COULD do with some tidying! lol They are still fine shots and great jobs! Rob
Astounding clean up job, glad I'm not the only one to suffer from "I'll just do this small bit,oh and then that...." syndrome :) Really excellent job on this Bill, just wondering, is it possible to replace what you remove with a different background an airfield for instance?, technically speaking...not asking you to do it.
Cool!!!!
They both look good, Bill. It's just a matter of preference. neiwill has a greta idea, but it sounds like a lot of work.
I can understand why you remove the background. I can be rather disturbing, but it is a really hard work to tube such an advanged capture, but I can see, you know, what you are doing. I hope you use a tablet for this kind of work :-D Well done. PS ! Thank you for all your kind comments to my Gallery :-D
