Description
Sometime ago I uploaded a photo of this kitty, thinking at the time she was on her last legs. This time, she is but there is no time line clear. She will be here in this family as long as she can be close enough to her younger self to have a decent quality of life.
As with many cats who live to an old age, Casey has Chronic Renal Failure. This failing of the kidneys is not even shown in clear symptoms until about 70% function is already lost. In a few minutes we will give her some fluid beneath the skin to stave off dehydration. She doesn't like the procedure but is apparently much more comfortable afterward.
She is 18 years which is something like 88 years old in human terms.
She is in familiar territory in the photo, on the pull-out typing shelf on my old oak desk where the computer is stationed. She hasn't been able to make the jump for a long time but talks to me and I put her there for a while. Behind is the usual mess with stuff of recent work piled on my now defunct scanner.
This photo is for this kitty, that is really the purpose of uploading it today.

Nice shot - and it looks so familiar smiles. My cat (almost the same color) is 15 now and healthy. And she lays between me and my keyboard at the moment with her head on one of my hands... everyone who has a cat knows that it is difficult to work sometimes when they are around. I wish you all the best for your little sweetheart and that she will have a quick end with no suffering. I dread the day when it will come for me and my Felina. Greetings to all who share their lives with those fascinating creatures.
A beautiful memory for you to keep.one of many.18 is a grand age.I lost my kitty at 14.he had thyroid trouble & was on medication one minute gaining weight & next losing weight along with a little renal failure in the end.I nursed him right up to the end(you will know in your heart when the time is near is & it does not lessen the pain you feel on that the dreadful day) & I was glad to have had the time to be with him until then.I did not want him to go But at least he suffers no more.still miss him loads I too have a special photo.+ others.wishing you all the best.Xx

She's quite beautiful. I hope you enjoy every minute you have left with her. She'll let you know when it's time.
she lived the 9 lives she have and I know of old cats. i had one that was 20 years old. I still think of her sometimes but know she is gone and that was many years ago. you will do the same here too
Beautiful kitty. She looks so healthy it's hard to imagine. Pets are family members and it's hard to let go.
Wonderful !!!
LOL, Very cute! Awesome job :)
awww poor kitty .. I had a foster kitty with that disease also that lived to 20 years ... the vet finally had to put him down which was so sad
Looks very familiar: I had a cat like this, too. She reached 16 years. at the end we had the same problems with her health. I feel with you, Tom.
I'm sorry to hear that about your cat. Beautiful photo of Casey! :)
Great Shot
Oh she is such a sweet little girl, I sincerely hope she is still with you, and will be for a long while, take care and have a Happy Christmas, hugs Jane xx
She is beautiful! You hold her in your heart and in your care. She is blessed as are all who share lives with these fascinating creatures. Excellent photo!
What a touching image. I'm a cat person...a friend of mine actually calls me the Prince of Cats (or a rat catcher!) which, of course I take as a well-deserved compliment. 18 is a ripe old age for such feline beauties and I've been fortunate enough to have cats who lived to the age of 21...I hope to live as long in human terms! I love this image. Cats are so regal and dignified, and most of the time, wonderfully clueless. There's no real mystery to them, they're just...well...so shamelessly feline! I admire and love that and I always will. This is a dignified photo that captures that and it's such an affectionate image, which is also cat-like since they are so incredibly affectionate.
Touching Tom...I missed this a couple of weeks ago. I hope she's made it to the new year. And a Happy New Year to you too.
