Description
The Northern Cardinal has made it in numerous uploads in my gallery before but to me they are a very noble looking bird.
Here we have a female putting her beak to good use.
Cardinals are abundant through the eastern half of the USA. Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas are the four western most states in the Cardinals' range.
Cardinals inhabit woodland edges, swamps, streamside thickets (my yard), and suburban gardens. They are nonmigratory but have expanded northward to the Canadian border during the 20th century.
Thank you all for the outstanding support of my bird pictures, particularly during this last winter-like week.
Bill:)
P.S. No filters used. The DOF resulted from my 200mm lens focused on this bird through my back door at a distance of about 11 feet. I can see them but they can't see me:)

Another wonderful shot of this cardinal Bill, they always look so close to your camera it must have a great zoom on it.. Excellent..
These are the most colorful birds--and one I've never seen. Love the soft filtered look!!
Great shot~ Cool bird!
a knock-out shot! One of my favorite song birds.
Very nice shot!
This reminds me so much of 'ladies who lunch'! Too much lipstick and a hat, you must know who I mean. She also has some crumbs stuck to her face, which also happens to these ladies as they approach a certain age!
Lol at above comment omg they are right though perfect capture!!
Aww..very cool capture...it is tricky sometimes getting the at the 'right' time. Way to go Bill...and I'm sure I speak for many on here, we are loving your bird uploads...totally awesome shots!

How wonderful to have a built-in bird blind! :) The results you get are excellent. I love seeing your birds ... most of them don't live out here!
I like the male's brilliant red colors but the female is beautiful in her own right

Another nicely focused portrait of a feeding avian to add to your already vast folio of such subject matter, Bill. And, how can you tell the gender of these birds? Their color?
A great shot and he looks to be enjoying his meal.
Beautiful capture and detail! What a treat to see. Her color coordinates well with your feeder too! Lol. Excellent shot!
