Description
I have captured this handsome ostrich last summer at a game park fairly close to my house. It was late afternoon and the black feathers posed a bit of a dilemma! Seeing that I have posted an image of his friend in a rather close-up image, I thought I would show more of the habitat in this picture.
Thanks for popping in and for your valued comments and favs on my "Kiss" image of yesterday!
Stay well!
Hugs, Carin xx

Carin it looks very lovely in its own surroundings. I like the flowers in the forground :)
beautiful shot!!
Wonderful shot! This close to the US's Thanksgiving, I thought that this was a rather large, Free-range turkey.... Excellent
Very nice shot!
Fantastic capture of this magnificent bird! :)
I don't think that bird would fit in the oven...what an exotic view!
this is wonderful carin !
The landscape goes on forever, lovely pic.
Beautiful capture! :)
I had the same idea as Mike. For just a second I thought 'Turkey?' Ostrich meat was very popular here for a while back in the 1980s through early 1990s. An excellent shot but it doesn't look like there is anyplace to hide. Makes for a nervous bird.
you really don't see the colors of those in zoos around here ..great job!!
A sterling image of the ostrich amidst the African terrain, Carin!
I would have said turkey as well---guess that's because I ate way too much the other day!1 Beautiful foto of this exotic creature--one I'll most likely never see in the wild!!
Great ostrich capture Carin. We have a breeding park about an hour north of me and the ostriches are grays and tans. I love how the still savannah fades into that beautiful cloudy sky. Dana
He's quite stunning! Your photograph prompted me to do a little research, so now I feel slightly more informed about these birds. (So I know those black feathers mean this is a mature male.) What a wonderful image!
Nice photo...
Nice shot the overgrown turkey looks great, but I'm left wondering what flowers are in the grass.
Great capture Carin.
Great capture of him in the wild. Well done, Clive
they are an amazing creature as with Emus. they are raised here close to Dallas.I tried Emu once, but not again
Ostriches are such weird birds. I saw some in Texas of all places and they were released from the truck that had been transporting them. There was a small lake nearby, and the first thing they all did was race to that lake and go wading like some of the weirdest looking aquatic birds to ever grace the face of the earth. Apparently ostriches and water get along really well. I think of that whenever I see this, because ostriches fascinate me. I think it's because their heads look so small! Of course its their plumage that does it...without those fancy, flamboyant feathers, they'd look more like dinosaurs, which makes them even more appealing to me! As for this photo, it's great! I love the vista you've captured. It's always nice to see critters, but it's an extra treat to see them in the context of where they actually live! Wonderful work.
Wow!
