Description
Years ago I saw something like this, looking out of the window, travelling by train in my country Denmark: At some point the train drove alongside a small brook, almost hidden by reeds and crooked overhanging trees. In one of the trees, I spotted a heron, lurking for prey in the water. Just a short glimpse, but great anyway :)
Normally you'd expect to see a heron standing in low water, but this one had found a perfect spot with great overview, and somewhat hidden as well.
Vue 7.4 Complete render, levels/colour correction, lensglare filter effect, framing & signature in Photoshop.
Heron Poser model from the Shorebird 2 Songbird Remix collection from DAZ.
Thanks for taking a look, comments etc. welcome and appreciated.
Have a nice day

Beautiful render, I love the peek through the trees to the distant hills, excellent work.
Superb render! Great view under the trees as well as through them, and the river is perfect. Good fishing to you!
Very lovely render. Great work!
Great work! We have a pond near our house that has a resident heron and we see him do stuff like this all the time- so I know your render is spot on ;)
Fantastic work Lars! It's really an inspiring experience to catch a glimpse of these birds in the wild. You have really captured and recreated your experince. Excellent work BTW!
This is a masterful image...perhaps the best Vue scene that I've seen this year!! Bravo!!!!
Superb image with great depth; I didn't see the heron at a first glance; a perfect spot indeed, great job!
Excellent work!!!!!!!
Nice touch with the bird fishing!!
Great job!
Superbe image et belle profondeur et lumiere
Utterly fantastic landscape and light
Great light and wildlife scene.
Magnificent work, as usual. The vegetation is top notch, very realistic and diversified. The heron is a great detail (and located in the exact place according to the golden section rule :-)). The only little thing I don't like much is the hill on the top left corner. It seems too "naked" compared with the excellency of the rest, it just doesn't match, IMO. I think some more clouds only would have been better for this area. It's only my opinion. :-) Again, excellent work.
Beautiful
Great lighting here, I too noticed the hill and agree with Rutra on that, and thanks for your comment too.
Very beautiful! Great lighting and vegetation. Excellent done!!
EXCELLENT!
nice work, I suggest add grasses on the hill at the back....
Really nice scene. Excellent lighting, vegetation and reflections! Great work!
Very nice work. Has the feel of real thick underbrush. You can hear the cicadas in the trees and the crickets in the brush.
Wonderful!!
Very beautiful scene !! Which part of Denmark are you from btw? My Grandfather and his ancestors were from Silkeborg
A fabulous scene with so many great details it looks so real.
Beautiful and fantastic
This is really wonderful and if you hadn't mentioned you had seen the heron hunting in that manner, I would have wondered. Beautiful image.
beautiful work!
Masterfully done. Great rendering of a sunny day. Superb shadow work
Very beautiful! I love how the stream bends around and becomes hidden in the grasses. The tree the heron is perched upon was made perfectly for him.
Wonderful snapshot you placed into your mind...And as wonderful is your ability now to bring it back to life! Great Job Lars.
