Description
Between my schedule and my internet dropping out for a couple hours last night, I haven't been able to be here as much as I would like. I think things should be back to normal by Friday night.
In the meantime, here's another door for you from my trip to Chicago!
This one had so much going on! The heavy door, that wide arch (with columns, no less!), the different finishes and textures, the stairs, and of course the ubiquitous iron work of Chicago. Something for everybody!

I love it!!! Especially the iron scrolling on the rail!!! Beautiful!
OH WOW ! This is absolutely fantastic Tara. I love that shot. Well done :-)))
beautiful stone arch and capture
Great find! Capture is fantastic. Thanks
indeed super detail
beautiful!!!
Entryways used to be the most important part of a structure. They told visitors and passerbys what to expect from the occupant. I don't think anyone really thinks about that any more but if you stop to think about it for a moment, where does your first impression of where you are going first strike...when you look at the front door. This is amazing and shows great thought in how this building wished to welcome people to it.
The first thing that strike me is the red flowers on the landing! Wonderful image Tara - for all the reasons you mentioned - texture, colors, different levels... Bravo my friend! What's up with our Internet connections??? deep frown
do looking wonderful
And I love it all! I like the look of the intruiging door below the stairs, too.
I'm with Carin, it's the flowers that are the best touch here, and I love the archway and everything else about this entrance!
Most excellent of your Chicago portals so far. Doorways are of great interest and something that every region has in abundance. I have deferred walking around downtown Kansas City with my camera for several reasons...one of which is I haven't had a vision for an area of concentration...doorways could be it! Inspiring:)
very good shot - somewhat overwhelming, i wonder what the rest of the building looks like.
fantastic capture! :)
I got shots of this one, too, but boy, are they different!! Go figure!!
beautiful entrance! Wonderful picture!!!
Splendid capture!
An imposing entrance. Great to see the splash of colour. Cheers, Clive
wonderful capture, Tara May warm hugs, Linda Kaye
Terrific image!!The colours, the contrast between strutures of the stone and the texture of the door are wonderful.Thank you for sharing.
Oh! really great capture of this doorway. All the details are wonderful. love it.
a wonderful shot, full of beautiful details!
Sure is a mix of many kind. Wonderful heavy door hiding in a dark while a full attention goes for the wonderful wroght iron work.
Fantastic shot! love all that is there.
I thought I was tired of doors and then you go and come up with this. The serrated decoration around the arch really adds to the overall look. Wonderful arch, looks like it has seen a lot of wear. I also like the wrought iron and metal accents on the door. Beautifully composed and captured.
WOW!! Talk about elegant and adorned entry ways,....this is probably one of the most elegant I have ever seen. It almost seems to be wasted on the plain red brick. Perhaps it is the abode of a rather wealthy Hobbit!
WOW. This is stunning! So many details and textures and everything! Quite simply, WOW! There's so much going on in here, but it's perfectly balanced in a way, and your POV really brings out the detials and the details OF the details. And yeah, even that ubiquitous Chicago iron stands out elegantly! You've got such a good eye for spotting stuff like this. And on a side note, I want that door!
This door is beautiful, as are all the other items around about it there.. Love the handrails, arch and pillars plus flowers.. Well done..Nice capture..
Great capture. Wonderful image!!
Methinks I will have to put Chicago on my wishlist of places to visit. Great architecture and character. Good composition - well captured.
