Description
When I was taking pictures of this building, a nice lady stopped to talk to me, because she thought I might be a photographer for a local real estate magazine. Apparently this is a famous building where someone important once lived.
I think there was a plaque and everything, but I didn't actually follow what she was telling me, having never heard of the famous person. I was impressed with the building, though! It was gorgeous.
Do you remember the Private Entrance I posted several days ago? That was in the same building.

and if we look very closely, we can see you taking the photo.... great shot(s) love the workmanship that went into this building
L'edificio meritava questa attenzione ! Bello scatto ! The building deserved this attention! Nice shot!
This is another example of why I prefer older buildings. The care taken in their construction is evident here and you have captured it very well.
This is so good--all the light and reflections and sparkle, and for extra measure--we get YOU!!
very fine shot - love the reflections.
Wonderful door and reflection. Great shot!!
Stunning! Love the reflections! Nice work tannie!
Quite an interesting entrance!
What an elegant entrance and you did it justice with your gorgeous image Dierbaar!! Very well seen and captured! :)
What a beautiful entrance and I love the stucco over the door. I would love to touch these stones.
Your other photo said it all -- Quality, Dependability, and Quiet elegance.--
Beautiful capture of this doorway. it certainly is a beauty love the older buildings and this is no exception..
Excelent capture. Love the thight crop, no wonder around just admire a great door.
A fine eye for architecture: I have seen a row of architecture from Chicago here. Very fine pics!
A beautiful doorway complete with fleurs-de-lis...but you have an affinity for lilies anyway don't you? Now, you've really got me wondering who lived there or may be was born there. Jack Benny was born in Chicago in 1894, Walt Disney in 1901, William S. Paley in 1901, Gloria Swanson in 1897, and Raquel Welsh in 1940...just to name a few...:)
A magnificent entrance, and you have caught it lit most perfectly.
Beautiful door and I like the stone textures. Fantastic shot, very well centred.
I just love your door shots, Tara, and there must have been an important person living in this building, there are some little hints to it by the imperial lilies in the frieze
i like doors .. great shot here ..
very nice!
a wonderful door!!!! Fantastic picture!!!
I do love that stonework too; fantastic capture!
Excellent shot! :)
I love arched doorways. There is just something so cool about them. You can tell here where there were arched door ways here, but one of the previous owners had "modified" them. Great shot.
elegant, nice light.
another super door
Wonderful Capture!!!
It looks to be an interesting place, and has a welcoming entrance. hugs Jane xx
Doorways are always amazing! They hold such stories and so many implied histories. I think that's why I liked them in Prague so much...they were like this one: arched, detailed, old, and occasionally well-maintained, though more often than not, encrusted with flaking paint, grafitti, and stains of dubious pedigree. As for this image, it shimmers with wonderful light and color, superb details, and an evocative sense of history looming somewhere in the background, but not exactly where you'd expect it to be. One of the joys of Chicago is that weird quality, a side effect of the city's habit of reinventing itself, as if it never had a core identity to begin with. But then you see doors like this, and there is a history here, it's just one that few locals even know about. Wonderful. This is so evocative, and as always, so spot-on-perfect!
fantastic door ! I love the green gold and white tones
