Have no idea what the type is, but it could not be any more colorful--hard to believe birds like this really exist--they are just gorgeous!!
Splendid composition and colors my friend
i believe it is a scarlet macaw
Gorgeous scarlet macaw shot!!!! Wonderful!
Ultra vivid colors in this magnificent portrait of the pretty bird, Fenton! And I also have no idea as to the particular variety of parrot.
magnificent!!
Appears to be a Scarlet Macaw whose range extends from extreme south - eastern Mexico to Amazoniain Peru and Brazil. They are hailed as the smartest of the parrots. they live to be an average of 40 years old but with proper care they have been known to live to be 75. Great shot you got of this one!
Glad MrsLubner above has come up with a name. He is a beauty! Imagine having a pet that could live to 75...you'd have to put him in your will:)

wonderful! it's a macaw, and a very endangered animal as to that. It's trade is illegal as it is that of its feathers.

My mother-in-law had a macaw (not a scarlet) but had lots of blues & greens...His name was Edward...he could talk...we would babysit him sometimes...he lived to be in his 60's...nice shot
