Description
Another of my favorite old wooden propellers.
This one is on a WWI Spad VII. With all the Chicago photos posted of late, although this Spad VII is now 500 miles away in the US Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio...it came to Ohio as a donation from the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry in the early 1960s.

Great link to Chicago - or is that a branch? The wood is a work of art. Cheers, Clive
like the strong colors
Fantastic shot.
Beautiful photo!
Wow Bill another wonderful capture of a beautiful Prop. Just makes me think of all the work that had to go in to making this..hrs of whittling.. No computers to work out the angles etc...Well done
Wonderful capture, "excellent" well done..
Gorgeous object!!
Great shot! The lighting is perfect. :)
You have opened up more childhood memories for me Bill in this excellent shot. My brother and father loved building models of planes of this era. The models were built mainly of bolser wood and I can still smell the glue that they would put on what seemed like tissue paper around the wooden framework. Next fun thing was watching them wind the propeller round and round which was attached to a special thick elastic band and then keeping our fingers crossed to see if they would fly LOL. Thanks Bill, hugs Jane xx
Super pic.
Yes...these wooden propellers are just so cool...great capture Bill! :-)
Very nice work Bill! That kind of craftsmanship is rarely seen anymore...
fantastic capture!
superb!!!!!!!!!!
superb creation
Wonderful compo Bill! I like the diagonal made by the rather colorful prop!! Well done! :)
I see Janeeden likes the smell of glue!!!! Careful!!!! :o) Good pic Bill, the propeller is a work of art.
First time i see a propeller made from wood, thanks for the shot. Looks really interesting.
Splendid work!!
Wonderful presentation!
CONTACT! CONTACT! Getting down to the nuts and bolts on this beauty. I wonder if they used lock washers with those nuts. This is one of the simplest propeller images I've seen yet on Renderosity, Bill. A beautifully hewn spartan propeller bolted onto whatever that axle rod is called. Stellar POV, clarity and lighting in this one!
Ooh, more wooden propeller, Awesome detail in zoom. Great shot.
Wouldn't that look great - hanging over a stone fireplace. Very well caught. Dana
Hard to believe these were made of wood, they are gorgeous works of art!!
Great nose shot of the SPAD that all us modelers will appreciate! The propr woodwork is beautiful all by itself.
Details are so great if you get them right.. And this is right! Good one Bill... :-) Take care you! Rob
LOVE IT
Great shot Bill!!
