Capacious Class Deep Space Freighters are specifically designed to haul cargo. While much slower when fully loaded than the more versatile Trustworthy Class starships , they can efficiently carry almost four times as much cargo. They also can serve as mobile drydocks since most Human starships in Deep Space Exploration Group service can fit into their cavernous transport frames. Capacious Class vessels are not capable of landing on planetary surfaces but do carry a small shuttlecraft complement. These shuttles usually include specialized craft that transport cargo modules from orbit to planetary surfaces. Capacious Class ships carry an even wider variety of cargo module sizes than the Trustworthy Class, but they usually uses the same two standard size modules: a 25 meter diameter by 100 meters long module and a 50 meter diameter by 200 meters long module.
