Description
Afternoon all :o)
Been really busy as usual ,but I have been trying to catch up slowly :o)..One of the themes for our Camera Club Competitions is patterns in nature and I`ve been racking my brain thinking of something thats different .This is a sunflower head without its seeds .Looks a bit like honeycomb does`nt it .
Thanks for taking a look and take care
Mick

I like it. I hope you score well. Until you mentioned what this is, I could not guess. I thought it was some kind of scales on a fish or something. Our camera club recently had a similar contest topic with the addition of the word 'abstract', as in "abstract patterns in nature". That one variation really messed me up. PATTERNS in nature are easy to find. ABSTRACT patterns on the other hand... though maybe obvious to some, are just not so obvious to me. I had trouble with that one. Out of the four photos I was able to enter I did actually get a third place on one of them, so I guess I can't complain too much.
SUPERB, Mick! I've got a book called 'Patterns in Nature'! It's by Peter Stevens, 1974. Published by Penguin in their Peregrine series 1976. I had to buy it for part of my degree course. If you can't find a library copy I'll email you some chapter headings which will give you loads of ideas.
Pine cones of the red pine or even tops off the oak acorn are similar. Excellent display
Wonderful capture Mick, "excellent" well done..
great and very interesting macro!!!!
excellent!
I KNEW it! I have seen this only a few times since my grandson is the one who usually rids the heads of seeds. :-) I like the theme of patterns in nature... great job with this one.
