Description
Somewhere on the Gold Coast of Chicago. (That's sort of north, and right across the street from the lake.)
I loved all the curves and the architectural details. I have WAY more building pics than you would ever want to see! The architecture of Chicago kept me entranced the entire time I was there.

First the stone building Chip has uploaded today and now this wonderful building with the sexy curves!!! WOW! All the more reason why I have to go back to Chicago - preferebly with no fog so I can see the other side of the road!!! LOL... Fantastic shot Tara - I love the POV and compo...
I don't mind how much you show us, as I shan't get there in person!
Excellent work and perfect realisation
Windows, windows...these were built in the days when "lotsa windows meant lotsa light". I didn't get up north...something else for another trip:) I'm with Andrea...keep 'em coming.
Yeah, I love buildings like that, so I would love to see it, Tara. This is awesome. So is the sky.
YES!!!Wonderful building!!! But you know what grab my eye?? LOL: The SKY!!! Is similar everywhere!!
Great architecture and shot!
Well done on looking up! Cheers, Clive
No kidding, buildings of every size and shape, each and every one a treasure. Well, maybe not ALL of them, but wow, there is a LOT of wonderful architecture here. I remember this one, think I have a shot of it as well--we always come up with such different POV's!! Beautiful foto!!
Great shot! I've no problem with you showing more pictures of your trip!
Bring them on. RR is just as much a learning experience as sharing photos and art. Well seen and captured. Dana
Oooh. I love this! That's a great area for photography; the buildings there are all astonishingly complex and beautiful and some are even historically significant. It wouldn't come as a surprise if this one is. And I gotta say, I love your POV on this, the way the masonry and the clouds occupy such dominant and overlapping parts of the picture without becoming muddled. You caught the curve perfectly, and there are so many curves and doodads on the buildings there; and, you got the curves and the doodads. Oh, and by the way, "doodad" is an actual architectural term. I think it's derived from the Latin: "Doodadus" or something like that. I also like the way you caught the reflections in the windows, they add to the overall "sunny day brightness" of this photo, and that's a good thing to see on a day that's a bit gray and grotty and as moist as today. Fantastic work! Oh, and show as many of the Chicago pics as you want! I love seeing how this city looks through eyes not my own.
Very nice photo ! I think I almost know the name of this building. In the rush of your everyday life it's easy to sometimes be oblivious to the world around you, and Chicago can be SUCH a busy and taxing ( literarly ) place to live. But every time I slow down long enough to really pay attention to my surroundings, I'm always amazed by the beautiful and diverse archittecture. Despite all the generic crap that's been going up since about 1995 or so, a lot of the older buildings here are really quite breath-taking in their intricate detail and imagination. Literarly works of art. I love how you captured the look of this one,and the POV is fantastic! I've made hundreds of pictures of the buildings in this town since I went digital two years ago, and as Chip said, would love to see more of your take on them. Keep 'em coming. And, again, a lovely shot.
If you hadn't said Chicago I might almost have thought it was San Francisco; how lovely this is!
fantastic capture!!
nice composition
Oh yes!!! Buildings make for way interesting photo subjects!!! Cool!!!
I love the POV of this. Great shot. Chicago has such a diverse collection of architectural techniques for every culture.
do look wonderful
I can see why you liked the architecture, it is lovely and stands out well against the blue sky.
wonderful looking building !
I love the attention to detail and craftsmanship that was put into older buildings. They look more like a labor of love than just slapping some stone, glass, steel and wood together. I don't recall seeing this particular place, so I'm really glad you got a shot of it and posted it here. Sweet!!!
Agree with Mrs. Ratbag..some of the same style in SF....too bad this is not seen much anymore..
When I went to Chicago in 2005, what struck me most forcfully was the architecture. This is wonderfully composed and sharp. Please keep them coming!
Ahh! So Rog! There ARE old buildings in Chicago! lol..... We only headed for the centre so kinda missed them... Great shot.. Rob
