Description
Sitting in a Seattle's Best in Chicago, I saw framed photographs on the wall. It slowly sank in that what I was looking at were images that were shot in Seattle, presumably to better set the mood. The photographs were all framed with glass fronts, which made reflection shots inevitable. The window across the store looked out over the Water Tower, an iconic Chicago landmark.
It was such a kick to get shots of Chicago reflected in photographs of Seattle. That really appealed to my sense of the bizarre!
Nothing says "Seattle" like coffee, and nothing says "Chicago" like the Water Tower.

I'm still so tired I can hardly see straight! It's all I can do to keep up with the thumbnails, never mind opening images and commenting. Eventually things will get back to normal, but in the meantime, don't expect much from me!

you know, when you were here you actually got a fine balance, all of you, between photographing, looking & sharing with everyone. It really was in balance! I'd find that hard to do, but I guess you've all done it long enough that it just melds into the whole...When you stared at these Seattle'sBest photos and then walked up and shot them, I had no idea you were getting so many complex reflections. I know there was a guy at a table where you wanted to get closeups, and I guess that's the photographer's dilemma—ie, when to intrude & when not. But this shot is amazing because the reflection is actually clearer than the coffee photo, and that's just right for the capture because the coffee photo isn't really the thing, it's the combo of your city and ours. And the reflections are the clear part, which is great: A photo within a photo. The perfect title for it too! I'm so glad you took us to these coffee places: I never drink coffee, but it was wonderful to drink it with you & Marilyn, and in those relatively open places in Borders. (Although the one in the Loop—where Marilyn shot the ballet dancers across the street?—was a little cramped, lol. Those stools were a bit high...) A really fun shot, and you got the reflections beautifully. (No more shots so far? I already commented on 'me'—I'm in withdrawal! Well I'll watch for the next batch. They've all been wonderful so far!)
This is a wonderful reflection shot and the Water Tower (which survived the Great Fire of 1871)is a true Chicago landmark.
Cool, excellent capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
