Description
Just a little different photo for you guys. Decided to try to get the sun cresting the peak. As I'd mentioned in others of my recent photos from Colorado, the atmosphere was particularly full of, well, particulates...
Whereas it was a bit maddening at times, and certainly was disappointing, it also gave me some fun with atmospherics. This photo of the sun cresting the mountains east of Ouray, Colo., shows an area above the American Nettie Mine that locals would recognize as the Bridge to Heaven Trail. About 1/4 of a mile to the right of where the sun is rising is where the trail gets its name, a ridge that is perhaps 50 yards long where there are 500- to 1,000-foot dropoffs on BOTH sides of the trail. Hair-raising for anyone who is not a tightrope walker. :)
