Description

This is an adult Canada Goose at the next pond over. Don't know the gender but I call s/he "the guardian". The rest of the flock are all different sizes. The guardian does not eat, only watches me and surveys the area for trouble. The rest of the flock stays in the water. As I leave, I scatted some cracked corn where I was sitting and that's the only time that "the guardian" eats. The rest swim out to the middle. Thanks for stopping by, taking a peak and for all your previous comments and favs. Dana

He/she does look full of importance :o), lovely picture, we have lots here. Bit sad as a ring necked dove flew into the window & unfortunately died, he has been buried.

If the Guardian was watching over the rest, it was probably a male. I remember once coming upon a family of ducks sitting on a spit of sand separated from me by water. While the female stayed with the ducklings, the male swam out to see if I was a threat.

Bella cattura! La femmina di solito rimane coi piccoli e li controlla. Nice catch! The female usually stays with the children and control them.
