Description
This is the water-side view of the Mukilteo Lighthouse. I was standing on the upper deck of the ferry, which accounts for the point of view.
It's one of those totally ordinary things I see all the time and never think to take a picture of!
The Mukilteo Lighthouse was built in 1906, and there are 36 steps to the top. The higher the light, the farther away it can be seen. If memory serves, the Mukilteo light can be seen from a distance of twelve miles, but in an area like Puget Sound, that's plenty!
For those of you who are in love with lighthouses, you can learn more about the Mukilteo Lighthouse HERE
The lighthouse runs a fourth order Fresnel lens, and there's another fourth order in the museum (the only Fresnels I've ever seen in person). As a light and glass junkie, I think a Fresnel lens is about the most beautiful thing in the world.

wow excellent foto
A lovely crisp capture.
Our ordinary is often somebody else's extraordinary. Found that out travelling around. Locals just could not see 'what's so dang interesting about that.' ;-) Well done.
There is a song about marrying a lighthouse keeper that pops to mind: "I wanna marry a lighthouse keeper...and keep him company...I wanna marry a lighthouse keeper and live by the side of the sea...I'll polish his laps by the light of day, so ships at night can find their way...I wanna live in a lighthouse...won't that be okay?" Okay, at least I didn't sing it! This is a gorgeous shot...I love the crispness of it and the vibrant life. Lighthouses have their own particular charm and its always astounding to see them in one way shape or form. I love this shot!
I am so glad you did awesome capture warm hugs and love, Linda Kaye
