That flat stone in the back is actually a bridge. It spans the watercourse between the pond with the bronze turtle and the pond with the water lilies and the koi. (Koi not shown. I HAVE pictures of the koi, but they pretty much just look like fish, which I suppose is to be expected.)

Yes, koi are fish and look just like fish. Now that we got that cleared up, this is a beautiful spot, these gardens are just incredible!!
