Description
The Small Tortoiseshell (Nymphalis urticae) butterfly is abundant in most areas. However, its availability often varies yearly. Its commonness may often depend on the status of the common wasp in that particular season, as the wasp is known to feed on the Tortoiseshell's pupae.

very nicely shot, posing for you =)
At last.. a Small Tortoiseshell. In my youth it was one of the most common butterflies, but now they seem to be very rare.. well where I live anyway. A beautiful capture of this beloved butty.
excellent
WOWW beautiful capture !!!
WOW!!!! Awesome capture, we have an abundance of these this year, my Cheri's taken a few shots, but they don't seem to hold still very long. It seems as if they almost prefer the windy days, never see them when the air is calm. This is amazing zoomed in, such incredible detail.
Awesome capture of a very fast little butterfly.
great capture...
Great shot and a nice specimen!
Very nice, clear and colorful macro shot- Butterfly's can be very elusive, so also kudos on your patience!
A beautiful shot, dear Michel. It is perfect on the flower, excellent work. I am glad you are posting again. Hugs, kisses, Bisous. DiDi. xx
Superb capture! :)

What a fantastic image. So clear and detailled. Excellent shot!!!
AWESOME PHOTO SHOT !!
I love the colors!
what can i say but beautiful.

Stunner!!!
