Description
Grumman F9F-5 Panther at the Combat Air Museum, Topeka, Kansas
I took a lot of shots of this Korean War vintage US Navy fighter but this single photo made the biggest visual impact upon me.
Hope you like it.
Really worth a ZOOM. I left this in a big file.
Bill:)

very impressive, i can feel the cold metal of his nose on my nose! it comes out of the screen! a most fantastic POV, and all the other acronims ;D)!
Fabulous POV!!!! great light too. I agree with Sandra!!
Very missle like with this POV...and high tech in its day...
wonderful photo!!!
I see a huge simalarity to a shark face!
Wonderful image!!
I like the use of a wide angel lens - emphasises that aerodynamic nose! Great exposure too! Clive
Another super pic, It amazes me how shiney & new they all look. The museum must have great cleaners. :o)
great capture
Oh me, Bill. I'd forgotten about this design. Semi-sleek with a good visibility canopy. Thanks for the link to the Combat Air Museum for other aircraft.
Love the POV Bill! Very nice shot!
Glad you picked this one Bill...very imposing shot. The tow bar gives the impression she's ready to roll.Do they still fly this?..it would be something to see (and hear).
Great shot !!!!
Killing machine, great capture!
yes a big sweeping fierce creature, like a shark (andrea), and it sits regally in its space almost as if it's primed to take off. Wonderful capture among many in your aviation series. Your angle makes its front end seem like it's poised to pounce and devour something...
Gorgeous nose shot ;-)
nice shot; great pov!
Great shot and zoom is great!
An impressive shot. Excellent.
why was I thinking BIG CAT .. when I saw title in my ebots you tricked me LOL very COOL shot.
Stellar POV, clarity and lighting effects in this one, Bill! Love the DOF and perspective. My brother served on a US Navy transport ship that carried these beauties to Korea during the 1950s conflict. And, if memory serves me correctly, these planes were featured in the 1954 movie, The Bridges at Toko-Ri, starring William Holden, Grace Kelly and Mickey Rooney.
Where's the Pitot tube? Did they hide it in one of those holes just to mess with me?
looks like it is ready to take to the skies again. I love seeing at one of the local air museums here when they roll one out of the hanger display area and fire one up and take off
Zoom gives a new appreciation of the nose sticking out at you! Great capture and thanks for the links.
A very sleek looking machine which you have captured so well.
Nice! Good one. Impressive looking view! My ones are more 'full size and much more detailed. But I haven't checked them closely yet! Ha! You have done really well. The light from the doors is NOT good for pictures! Rob.
Very good shot. Well done.
Great perspective Bill!
Fantastic image!
Well done, sir! P
