Description
The Giant Kingfisher or for the technical folks - Ceryle Maxima. This fellow is the largest of the kingfishers (46 cm) and I was very lucky to get this image a couple of years ago in the Kruger National Park here in South Africa! He was sitting on the railing of a bridge long enough for me to shoot off just one photo! It was still done on film - so I was very lucky that it was a half decent image!
Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments and favs on my waterfall upload of yesterday!
Stay well!!
Hugs, Carin xx

Wow, what great detail--and the fact it was scanned and from film--geez, girl, it's awesome!!
What a beautiful bird. Excellent shot and presentation.
Great shot. This is interesting...he has the same colors and patterns on his body that the Red-bellied Woodpeckers have around here.
A VERY DESENT IMAGE.
so nice bird!!!! Great photo!
I've never seen one of these - the coloring so different from the King Fishers I know from around here. What an exciting find. You certainly see so many exotic things over there!
Superb capture, wonderful detail and just wonderful bird! Instant fav, love those feathers:-)
Super catch, Carin!
Hummmmmmm Beautiful catch my Beautiful. Thank you very much to share this wonder. It resembles a little the peak wood of Canada but in larger ((5++)) Hummmmmmm Belle prise ma Belle . Merci beaucoup de partager cette merveille. Il ressemble un peu aux pic bois du Canada mais en plus gros ((5++))

cool bird!
wonderful photo !!!
WOW ! It really doesnt look that big to me. Funny how a photo sometimes can fool one. But it is a mighty wonderful capture and a very beautiful bird indeed. :9
Beautiful Kingfisher shot!!!
great capture...
A really beautiful bird, great shot
Fanstastic photo
Stellar profile portrait of the little big fella, Carin! It should be called Ceryle "Minima," if actual size relationship with its fellow avians is concerned. It kind of reminds me of Woody Woodpecker, though not as colorful. And, terrific contrast and superb work converting the film image to digital.
Stunning capture Carin.
wow just love birds and this is a fantastic shot
Excellent shot!!
A very interesting bird..but pretty in his own way..
Love the dotted feathers, great shot.
