I think it is 1/500th of a sec Lu! I have no idea why it registers 10/5000 in here, I would love someone to explain that! That is an excellent photograph the simplicity is what makes it so beautiful, but not surprising the Nikon D40 is a great camera Lu. But always the creativity of the person behind the lense gives it life.

Great shot , Its a bit late now but my take on your shutter speed is 1/500 looking at the ISO and Aperture and the shot looks as if it was cloudy it would seem to be right.
