Description
What a change!! From sunny weather with temperatures in the low 70s while docked at Pier 91 in Seattle to this. Standing in the middle of the ship (Star Princess length 951-ft) the bow or the stern are barely visible. Visibility is about 1/4 mile. The ships foghorn blasts every 2 minutes.
Despite the fog the ship cruises at 21 knots. This speed combined with a slight headwind make for a very windy deck. Temperature is in the upper 40s/low 50s.
Except for an occasional brave soul, the deck is empty. After about an hour or so the fog clears somewhat and the visibility increases to what can be seen on the upload.
Visibility is about 5 miles and a steady rain has started. The rain is coming down at an angle. I am dressed for the occasion, rainproof coat and pants, fleece liner, longsleeved shirt.
It rains all day, and the visibility never improved. That was what I had been looking forward to.
This picture was taken between Seattle, WA and Ketchikan, AK on 25 May 2009.
Thank you for viewing,commentingand favs,

Awesome story and capture!!!
das war wirklich ein trĂĽber Tag......
Fantastic story and magic capture...Bravo..!!
After living 1/4 mile from the south end of the Golden Gate Bridge for two years...I've come to love the sound of a fog horn. And, much in line with your experience on the top deck...I recall often walking the dog in July with a winter jacket on.
Very exiting moments!
