Description
For All: Back to Dayton to the Presidential Aircraft Gallery.
"Colunbine III" was President Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidential aircraft between 1954 and 1961.
Please ZOOM to see it really shine.
Mrs. Eisenhower christened this Lockheed VC-121E Columbine III in honor of the official flower of Colorado, her adopted home state, in ceremonies on Nov. 24, 1954. Columbine III served as the presidential aircraft until President Eisenhower left office in January 1961. It remained in service transporting government officials and visiting foreign dignitaries throughout the world until it was retired to the museum in 1966.

Most attractive!! Even those tube thingies hanging down from the ceiling are shiny!
WOW this plane looks as though it has just rolled off the production line.

She looks Awesome this Bird
Great shots - been there . . . had a great time.
Great collage, Bill! I can see where you be torn about single post or the collage look. I would have gone for the large top Photo and a small inset of the nose art..... (idea to self!) But as for the collage? It certainly is mega shiny! Catches the eye well. That is the main idea. I liked this plane. Well done. Rob.
Humm...I did not know that about President Dwight D. Eisenhower's presidential aircraft...very cool info....EXCELLENT collage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW! A beauty of a plane!

little did she know of terrible history to be associated when the name.very beautiful plane.the best taxpayers can afford
Excellent collage, Bill. Gives a sense of the vastness of the place. Happy 4th!
F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C..!!!!
Ah-h, the curvaceous Constellation. Shape of the fuselage and three-rudder tail are signatures. Flew in one from Seattle (SEA/TAC) to Anchorage in early 1956, and in another San Francisco to Las Vegas in 1957 ("Gamblers Special" price $9.00 one-way). Comfortable airplane.
OMG, I used to work on the Constellation when I was employed at Lockheed in Burbank, CA, so many decades ago. Brings back memories. There are stellar POVs, lighting effects and reflections in this wonderful collage, Bill! This aircraft is just as spittin' polish shiny as Frank Borman's F-86 Saber over in Chino.
wow ..this is blinding!! Imagine how much work must go into to that.
fantastic collage!!! superb shining!!

I love the flower emblem on it, it gives it a nice feel.
