The story element of it is : While Argin was quickly rising to power and created his own dark identity, he caught the attention of Darth Malak. Malak, considered replacing Darth Bandon with the rising Argin Thrawn. He tested Argin in various ways. Argin's final test was a duel of lightsabers. Malak disarmed Argin and decided to go for a killing blow, but Argin dodged in time. His mask and a portion of his robe hood were sliced by Malak's lightsaber and Argin lost his balance. As Malak closed in for the kill, Argin repelled him with a powerful Force Lightning attack, knocking Malak back. Darth Malak was impressed at the raw power Argin wielded and allowed him to live. "You have passed this test Argin. With more training and control your skills will be complete. I have more pressing matters to attend to, but soon you will join my ranks against the Republic and their Jedi kath hounds. We will soon wipe them from the galaxy." This was the first and only time the two met, for fate had intervened. Malak was killed by Revan and Argin was saved from the Dark Side. Also found a pretty cool skin texture for him as a Dark Jedi, contaminated by the Dark Side of the Force.
