Description
The Devastation Trail. In 1959, the forest throughout this area was buried by falling pumice from the Kilauea Iki eruption to a depth of about 6 feet and the trees were entirely stripped of their leaves. The vegetation you see has grown back since 1959. Playing with HDR again. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Wonderful image! :)
Fantastic landscape.
Excellent work!!
A terrific image.
It has devastation written all over, very appropriately titled and composed.
Nature comes back every time. You can't keep a good (or a bad) seed down:)
what an interesting view, so poetic, you did well Errol with the colours......love the branches as well....it invites me to follow that path.....and 1959....that sounds good to me......that's the year I bin born.....
Beautiful POV and capture!

Another wonderful view of what Mother Nature can do. The beauty of it is that she then brings it back--great shot!!

Beautiful shot Errol. I haven't been there in years. It is a great short hike. Well done. Aloha
Nature always tries to renew itself when it can. I love the HDR effect, just enough to show the detail but not so much as to be tacky looking. Great image!
