Description
This is the airliner that appeared in the Lightning pic.
I found it on a massive 3D archive site.
It is *supposed* to be a BAC Trident airliner, but it could be something similar.
The markings are a bit low-res but I as the plane is only a background prop I thought it was good enough. I chose BEA as I felt it was in keeping with the 1960s feel of the Lightning.
They were just done in PhotoShop using Bryce renders of the model as templates.
Hope you like my texturing efforts.
Thanks for looking.
Iain

Hi Iain. Nice plane. Simple but effective.
Great texturing Iain. Civil Air is not a strong point so I'll say good model. Thanks again for Lightning 'nod'.
great work!
I loved the rear-engine jetliners of the 60s. To my preadolescent eye they looked like rocketships. Flashforward/back to 1978 and the first time I had to ride in the last row of a 727-- no window and the window on the penultimate row looked out onto the inside of the engine cowling! But you could still see the (in)famous rear exit ladder, which DB Cooper proved could be used to parachute from the plane while in flight.
David, I also love the 'T' tail airliners. As a kid I had the Airfix Trident kit, and even then loved the fact that everything seemed to be swept back. It looks fast even when static. I've only ever been on one 'T' tail - a KLM Fokker flying from Glasgow to Amsterdam airport en-route to Tokyo. Inside it's like a bus! Not very exciting!
Excellent.
Great - a very "period" feel!
Ah! The memories! BOAC! BEA! Etc...... Great picture. Rob.
You should do this one up as Airfix box art..it's perfect.
Good to see there is someone else on site with good taste in classic airliners. This is a real surprise as I had no idea you did these before I did mine lol.
