Description
While visiting yet another museum today, this one being the National World War I Museum in Kansas City (USA), I found a great deal of pre-1920 art work in a dim room.
My immediate thought was, good, here's something to balance off my last upload of ICBMs.
My second thought was that these would please Andrea (durleybeachbum) who just had a birthday about two days ago and who has shown us many of her sketches. :-)
Hope you will all enjoy these sketches from the early 20th century.
PLEASE ZOOM.
Bill:)
P.S. The drawing on the left was done by Corporal Daniel MacMorris serving in Southern France. This is from a series of "Women Serving in the Army". After the war he returned to his job as an artist for the Kansas City Star newspaper.

Fabulous find, Bill! You're right, I love them! There is something about this sort of work which brings us close to the era and the artist in a way that photographs do not. Which is why I suppose we still employ war artists to this day.
I like these Bill skilled hands are appreciated, and this is a fine example, nicely presented too!
Excellent shots. Great work!!
Great artwork. Thanks Bill.
Excellent photos of some great sketches. Thanks. Skipper
Great photos of this artwork. No dimly lit room would stop me from the photo attempt either. Interesting find, well captured.
Very interesting art work and good eye to capture it, very nice work!!!
excellent capture!!
Fantastic work Bill, you need to travel more often, I am enjoying the trip as much as you and I don't have to deal with the traffic. :)
Its amazing to look at hte imagry of the first world war, given the leaps and bounds that were made in that time, not only on a social front, but to see how life evolved around people. great shot to remind us of this time!!!
Wonderful images, and an honor to those who did them, and wanted us to remember.
Wonderful sketches.
These are excellent sketches. Not surprised that the corporal was a pro-artist.
Fabulous pics, I would love to be able to draw.
excellent capture!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoyed!
Stellar capture of the sketches, considering they were taken in a dimly lit area. I believe they keep it at low illumination so that it doesn't affect the integrity of the paper they were drawn on, e.g., sunlight on a paperback book will turn the pages brown in a relatively short period. In any event, capital collage created, portraying several facets from the War to End All Wars. I remember it well.
This is an awesome find. We are not allowed to take pictures in our museum, but they will sell you some.
A great find and they have been very well drawn. I love the portrait.
Zoom really gives you the best view and the sketches ...even old are wowwwww
wonderful!!!
What fantastic drawings! I'm so glad you thought to photograph these and share them with us. They make a wonderful addition to your gallery ... they're sort of a connecting thread, somehow, between planes and bronze statues and poetry. (Don't ask me to explain that, all right? It's just a sense I have.)
Terrific work mate.
Sweet & Unique
A fine collage! My personal Fave? The one on the Right! I know..... I'm the odd one out. But, hey! I like to be that way. Great work once again. Rob.
