Description
What kind of bug is this? It looks like a pupa. Found on a Coral Bark Maple leaf. Size is about 5mm.
I "captured" the thing and it is outside, safely kept in a jar. If we cannot figure out what it is, i will keep you posted, if you like. I have another pic of this thing, only 2 hours later. The markings are not the same!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the looks and any comments you leave.

I have no idea my friend but I'm glad he's at your house and not mine...LOL...please do let me know what it is if you find out.......oh, and keep him in that jar...don't want him making any trips to ohio....LOL
Cool shot.. sorry I can't help with the ID
Great macro and what a strange critter
Don't know ... Do you have like a county farm extension center or something like that around? I came up with some odd beetles one year and took them there for ID...
Never seen anything like this before how strange, great find and capture!!!
I have no idea what that is!
Very good macro.
Your shots are wonderful!Great ArtWork!
No idea, keep a watch.
Wild guess; it's making a cocoon.
I think it's pupating. can't wait to see the updates.
Hi there my friend! Straight up? I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!! Dude! That is just plain weird! Great capture and truly awesome Macro. Well done.... Rob.
Nice macro, that is the weirdest bug I have ever saw.
A most intrigueing capture! I have no idea what you are dealing with. But it sure makes for a colorful and almost other worldly photo! Great job!
This is a new one on me! An alien critter for sure.
Beautiful work-thanks
awsome what is it??
Fantastic find and macro!!!
What kind of bug? Don't know but I think you got its good side! LOL Great capture!
wow!...amazing!!
i know its a late comment, if you have not found out the species yet, send an email to the Natural History Museum in London, they might help, they did when we found a Hummingbird Moth in Kent one year, sorry, waffling on. Great shot
Looks like a little alien (I do not want to imagine it 4 meters high!) Btw I did see a few years ago, I think this is a kind of egg state or larval state. I know the insect but I do not know the name. I think this insect has four state of metamorphosis
Bella foto, soggetto interessante.
Hmmmm ... interessting unique shot for sure ! Lcky you... ;-) My gues would be a kind of Butterfly , when it gets out of the Cocoon.
excellent macro !!! it is E.T.? ;o)
never seen one like this before, but it does look stunning, like some sort of alien flower
muy buena..
