Description
I am back in the Namib Desert. This image was taken approximately 100 miles north of Swakopmund. I just loved the flat desertscape with the hills in the background and the fog busy burning away towards the ocean. Now, if you look carefully, you will see a mountain just visible with some clouds around it. That mountain is the Brandberg. Directly translated it means Mountain of Fire. Those of you who read Wilbur Smith will recognize the name from his very famous novel "The Burning Shore". This is exactly the setting for that book!!!
I would like to extend a huge thank you for your comments and favs on my last two uploads. Your comments on my close encounter with the scorpion were hilarious and I enjoyed it thoroughly and your comments on my poem and sunset astounded and humbled me. You guys are so kind!!!
Take care!
Hugs, Carin xx

lovely shot!!
Very stark, yes, but it does have its own beauty, which you've captured perfectly. Well done!

Hmm, different weather up there! The furthest I have been is Luderitz. Stunning place. Cheers, Clive

Hi Carin. I stayed in Swakopmund for a couple of days and went on a balloon flight over the desert to the east. Saw Brandberg up close too and took some sunrise/sunset shots. Great shot, its a beautiful country isn't it !
this is a another example of you talent with the camera, and you dont need to thank us for looking at you cool and wonderful work it deserves to be hung and looked at.

Would have said "This land is my land", but unfortunately I have never visited Namibie before.... so I would stick to: perfect landscape and a beautiful picture Carin!!

Once again just an outstanding capture of this magic land. The few weeks that we spent there just seemed to fly by necessitating another holiday this coming year in Namibia! Love the picture....love the photographer!!!
Lovley photo
Unparalleled colors, depth and stratification join forces to produce an amazing image, Carin!
The starkness is so beautiful.
might as well be Mars. Love the contrast between sky and desert
This is stunning--there is a magic about it for sure!!
I really have to catch up on your gallery. But I'm glad I saw this beauty. This is a stunning shot, elegant and otherworldly: two of my favorite things. I love the sense of color here, and the sense of vast, unspoiled space. Great work.
We're not being kind, dierbaar ... only giving credit where it's due. What an amazing place that must be! Awesome image.

Desolate but what a pleasure to view the bigger version Carin, excellent contrast between surface and skies.
Fantastic shot!
Beautiful shot of the desert, Carin. I can see the beauty of this land, even though I am more fond of mountains and trees having been raised in them. But I would love to see this in person just once!
