Description
Modeled and Rendered in Rhino 4. Imported into AutoCAD LT 2009 as a JPG file to add title block and then exported back out as PDF. Original image size is about 10,000 x 3000 pixels to conform with accompanying deck plan set posted on my website in PDF format since AuotoCAD does not export images as JPG files very well.
To get this image into the Renderosity gallery, I needed to scale the image down to 1500 x 575 pixels and convert it into JPG format. To accomplish this task, I imported it into Corel Draw/ Corel Photo-Paint X3. This much file manipulation has resulted in thin white lines across some of the image converted using this method. Does anyone know a better way to get a composited image out of AutoCAD and into a JPG format?

ah this is so cool. any plans for a cutaway? those, i found, were always the hard part to do on my starships. modelling all the details required a bit more power than i used to have lol.
Very nice view! I checked out you WIP deck plans on your site too. Look forward to seeing more.
You might want to try saving in corel as a png file format, I know you can do that in Corel X3 as I have the same software, then perhaps resizing the png and then finally saving as a jpg. But at some point you will have truncated lines just because as you size it smaller, the lines may not be able to be seen in the jpg conversion. But converting the full sized image into png and resizing the png will yield better results than resizing a jpg. Hope this helps David, Laters! ~~Richard~~
As the guy before me said, try saving as a png, then I'd reopen in another photo ap. I'm pretty sure you won't get those lines using GIMP 2.6, which is what I use, and is free, unless there's something else going on that I don't know about. Just pop it open and save as a jpg, then dial down the quality percentage a couple points (90-95% quality is usually enough to get any image under 500k. I've been able to do that with my images and not have to reduce them in size. I've flicked back and forth between the reduced rez and normal images, and I can't detect any difference.
LOVE the detailing!!! David
I really like the style og your latest presentations
