Description
I told myself that I shouldn't spend any more time playing with rocks, but focus on completing my costume. Of course, that didn't include breaks...
I've dedicated the last couple of these to people who seem to really enjoy my strange hobby (okay, actually ONE of my strange hobbies...) You guys have definitely inspired me to push myself not only with these sculptures, but as an artist in general, not just because you enjoy these weird creations of mine, but because your own work is so good, I can't help but feel like I need to step up a bit more.
Anyway, I was really just kind of fooling around while dinner sat on the grill, and I must say that I'm really happy with how impossible these look. They're really an excellent study in center of gravity.
I feel I should also mention that no glue, strings, bits of sand, or Photoshop was used to build these rock stacks. It's all just gravity and friction. Weird, no?
Thanks for taking a look.
I've had requests for pictures of the costume I keep mentioning, and when it gets closer to finished, I promise you'll see pictures.
Have a great weekend!

well i be one of the fans of the magnetics of the rocks, my friend in vegas does that very thing for a living, no strings either...lol think maybe the eygptians knew something about rock stacking....lol to see yur stuff pile up..lol
More bars in more places...? Nice balancing act. Mandi's gonna love it...wherever she is.
This is great. I love the ancient-dolmen quality that your rock sculptures always have. I'm always intrigued by these, and I look forward to actually seeing a couple of them in person...I've made a few attempts, as I might have mentioned, but ugh...they were...well...gravitationally challenged to say the least. I really need to catch up on your gallery and on galleries in general, but I'm glad I peeked in and saw this one! Great stuff and I'd love the see the costume you're making.
Thanks so much for the dedi, Michael! You know how much I love your rock sculptures. These are very anthropomorphic.
Excellent rock sculpture and capture!!!

Keep adding progressively bigger stones and you'll have a stairway to Heaven!!! David
A very nice way of turning stones into sculpture! Excellent dedi as well !
They also remind me of strange critters coming out of the ground and climbing the tree!
Gravity sucks! (sorry, couldn't resist :o) Your sculptures are unique. Don't stop playing on our behalf....
Really nicely done!
