and never leavin' the farm".... words from Jim Stafford's immortal song "The Wildwood Weed" to all my friends here at rendo, I'm taking time off for good behaivior, aq bit of a vacation... if you will... truth is, I have a kind of writer's block brought on by depression and burn out... lemme 'slpain... I was writing up the story for the Parthenon series.... got carried away, ended up witha feature film script.... I showed it to a freind of mine in the industry (from my bad old days) and he said "So, when are you going to make it?" never thought about it... time to develope it more, me thinks... The Lounge Wars may become a video game... there's that chance as well... but for every light, there's got to be a shadow.... I moved back home a few months back for family things.... (Mom turned 81 this year...and I'm it) I moved to a small city where they turn out the lights at 6 PM (even on fridays and saturdays), where the cultural events consist of going to the bars and waiting for a fight to break out..... it's the town where Archie, Jughead, Betty and Veronica grew up.... depression kicks in....and the only word that comes to mind is "damndamndamn' Tht, and I haven't had a serious vacation (and I mean something hat didn't involve coming down home for my time off, or going someplace where the boss would like me to look into 'while I'm there'....) since 1980..... and I have a handfull of movies to make, before I shuffle off this mortal coil.... so, for the next few months, I board my ship, setting controls for the rings of Saturn and beyond.....turn the key in the ignition (with that classic VW keyfob .... ala Flesh Gordon) and spend some time getting my head (and soul) straight. So, if'n you dont. hear from me for a while... please don't take it personal, I'm gonna miss you all (although I might peek in now and again... just for that beauty and truth thang....) but to quote Commander, Sir Asimov Vinge Zelazney, Terran Trust and Investigations..... "If you don't go away, how can you ever come back?" Peace!
