Description
Some of the most charming things I saw in Hawaii were these old screen doors. Not the ugly aluminum ones, but the real deal, wooden, with lots of bamboo. They were usually well worn, half the time the screen was torn, or the door itself was a bit wonky and crooked. This one is the entrance to a restaurant in Hawi, an old town north of Kona. Makes me want to rip my old ugly one off its hinges!!

Ooh, I love old wooden screen doors too, they're so much nicer than aluminum ones! Great capture.
I too am a lover of the old wooded screen doors...I used to love to hear the one on my Grandmother's home creek as it opened and closed.
I don't know, I kinda like aluminum screen doors, especially when they're a dark color and all gussied up with scrolled gratings and such. In any event, the wooden varieties do elicit much ambiance, charm and a yearning for the good old days.
I always like the idea of bamboo for decoration. It is something special. Nice capture. Aloha
Beautiful doors with a lovely patina. Nice shot!
Great shot here. I have a thing for doors, thresholds, and stuff like that, so this is right up my alley. Great sense of buttery golden color, though actually, on second glance, it's more like buffed honey. Hmmm...is there such a thing as buffed honey? Probably, as it sounds kinda like a car color. Anyway, color names aside, this is a great shot. I love the hints of details you can see through the window screens, as well as the not-exactly-face-on angle you've chosen, it has the "feeling" of walking up to that door and getting whiffs of the surrounding vegetation. Pictures evoke so much, as this one demonstrates, and that's always, always, always a good thing.
