Description
The Shoulds
She should feel guilty:
She doesn't feel guilty
She should be more careful:
Watch her throw
Caution to the winds
She should watch her step:
There is no hesitation
As she runs
Straight into his arms
She should be strong
And resolute:
She can't help but laugh
And play
And have fun
She should be realistic
And remember
Not to believe
Everything she thinks:
She loves the story
They're telling each other
She wants to spend
Every minute of her time
With him:
She will follow her bliss
Give in to her heart
Bask in his warmth
And never count the cost

Wonderful words. How very true of us, we should but we don't always
I like the youthful, playfulness of this piece. Must we be practical 24/7? One side says yes, the other side says no. A mere fling or something more? The heart can be a tricky thing...don't you agree? The up side is blissfully easy to imagine. What's the down side? Inevitably there is one. Wait, on a reread...she's not going to count the cost! So, the decision is already made. Going somewhere? :-))
Been there, done that, no regrets!
Great words!
A lovely poem Tara.
you are an amazing writer ! excellent
What a way to describe a friendship!
Wonderful poem.
wonderful work, Tara May warm hug that smiles, Linda Kaye
More great, written work! Short, succinct...perfect. I love the tempo of this, the poetic truth of it. Throwing caution to the wind is pretty much the only way to go, otherwise one doesn't live. The art accompanying this is perfect; the greens and the abstract dots and splotches are great.
Yep, go for it, grab the brass ring and do it with no regrets!!
Great verse and I like that green colour on the picture.
How true Tara...some of your poems feel like your talking to me...
