Description
There are times when Chicago presents glimmering, shiny whimsy, or vulgarity that is positively criminal. On other times, something else happens. You turn your back on the city at 6am, and see something a bit more natural than Mayor Daley's attempts at turning the city into a giant condominium complex centered by a shopping mall.
As always, thank you for viewing and reading, and commenting, and hopefully you're all having a great week.

A beautiful sunset; I prescribe big hearty doses of turning your back on the city!
I like this a lot. Reminds me of my time at sea, the peacefulness before the day gets into full swing. I even recall seeing streaks in the sky like you have here - a plane going somewhere - I wonder where. Nicely done.
And then you know what's real and what isn't--gorgeous, wonderful foto!!
Such a lovely capture. It's hard to see your city change in ways you don't agree with. Seeing this makes it easier to live with.
Stunning image
I would think this was the opening of Hawaii-Five-O, if I didn't know any better. Unfortunately, nothing can be more unlike Hawaii than Chicago; seeing things like this makes it easier to live in a city that I've developed a real love/hate relationship with. But that's a rant for another day. The colors here are soothing and brilliantly captured; 10,000 miles away from the city looming just behind you as you took this photo. It looks like it should be warm, and I'll try and remember it that way, while I'm recovering from the frostbite. A very nice picture.
Yes, even Chicago has its beauty and you have captured it here. Fortunately no malls and condos can be built on the ocean ... or toll booths. :o) CC
What a gorgeous image! I like it because it could be anywhere there is such a vast horizon. One can stare at it forever, and not know where in the world one is.
Delightful !
Excellent idea and perfect realisation
Wonderful photo!
the end of the day.
I love it as i do all your work.
So beautiful moment!
Chip, the best memory I have of Chicago is coming into O'Hare from the very northern tip of the lake...the whole thing was spread out before us, all the way to Indiana! good stuff, bud!
Wonderful sunset!!I love the colour of the sea!
Pearl of light looking as a dancing Princess on water.
Every huge city has it's redeeming feature .. this must be Chicago's
Great shot.
I've always been a sucker for sunrises and sunsets. An English (don't know who) author called them "poor men's gold" because no rich man could ever possess it and keep it. Sorry to hear that your mayor has caught the condo bug. The sad thing is that condos don't have the multi-generational life span a city skyline requires. They seem to lapse into neglect just like the buildings they replaced.
Nice shot of Lake Michigan...our own little ocean in the Midwest.
hey, i love all your pix, we make about the same kind of photo's, amazing....
