Description
I spent Easter with friends in Arcata (north of me about 20 miles, home to Humboldt State University). We had planned on a hike in Fern Canyon***, but as life goes, other things got in the way and we didn't make that particular trip. We did, however, walk along Humboldt Bay, on the Wildlife Sanctuary** paths. It was a glorious day, and as we came to the end, I spotted this guy. He was just sitting there, watching, checking us out. He let me take several fotos, posing this way and that. Don'tcha just love his big blue eyes??? Or eye, since you can't see his other one!
Oh, and Fern Canyon?---SOON!!!!

Great find,excellent idea;klasse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reminds me a bit of what I imagine Wylie Coyote must look like. Looks good.
funny and great idea!!
What hath God wrought? If I came upon this pterodactyl throw back to the Jurassic/Cretaceous periods, then away I go, as fast as my ancient dotard legs will carry me! A mean-looking mutha, indeed! And that predatory piercing eye...I want no part of that. These guys will flap their leather wings, pick you up, and carry you off as a brunch snack for their little ones. Aside from the above, superlative lighting and textural effects in this shot, Maz!
...weird,to say the least...
Nice compo Marilyn
I like the way it look at me. God shot.
It's staring ... wow Doesn't that thing ever BLINK???
Pretty Kewl.... Aloha
wonderful shot Marilyn, great how you find these! And you have to know, even without the eye, it's a really good shot of wood with all its furrows & textures & flows. I like the shot a lot. And I like Andrea's comment, "Someone after my own heart has had a hand in this!" Yes! The person who did this was an artist at heart. Wonderful capture, lots of fun as always, with a fine photo of wood underneath it all.
Oh, Marilyn, this is a fantastic shot. It reminds me of a dragon, one of those sentient beauties from the Dragons of Pern series...serene, scaled, impressive. And your capture of detail is amazing, crisp, and as usual, spot on. Great sense of color, as always. Great stuff, with a delicious touch of whimsy as well. Needless to say, it's yet another favorite. You just do these so well!
Perfectly placed!
