Description
Hi Friends
This is an image of the Namib Desert meeting the Atlantic Ocean. To me this scene has an almost surreal feel to it. Taking pictures here are often difficult because of the almost constant fog present. I'm not a climatologist but it has something to do with the warm desert and the cold Benguella current flowing from the southpole.
The beaches of the Skeleton Coast also have multi-colored sand. It has the traditional color beach sand but also dark pink, greenish and black sand. It is apparently caused by different minerals present in the sand. You can see the dark pink (almost reddish) on this image.
Thank you for popping in and for your very valued comments and favs on my previous upload.
Do zoom!
Take care.
Hugs, Carin xx

WOW! great shot! love the scene! Hope you've more of this beach front Thank you for the tour
the first video documaintery I've taped, on my first taperecording machine long time ago, was the film "skeleton coast" Impressive and never forgotten. This wonderful view brings it back, great shot! RS
yes, it is surreal! Great mood!!!!! Fantastic photo!!!!! ...and wonderful information!!!!
Oh Carin. This is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are soft and subtle, and the scene has such power. It speaks to me of contrasts, of edges, of harsh realities and smooth transitions. There's no sense of time here. This could have been a thousand years ago or next week, the love affair between land and sea continuing whether we witness it or not. Beautiful.
Why is it you always make be start out with the word beautiful...guess I'm just short on adjectives. I've got a lot of beach time but I've never seen multicolored sands like this. There is also a softness to the hues and tones here that is uncommon and downright lovely. Well done!
WOW Carin, it looks fantastic. I bet there are souvenirs of bottles with sand paintings in them ?? Ok I actually dont know, but just came to think about a souvenir I got from Israel 35 years ago. Painted using sand of different colors poored into a tiny bottle. it Looked like a camel. :)
This is so surreal and amazing. Thank you for bring these all the way so many thousands of miles. Wonderful work.
SUPERB!
Carin, a gorgeous sight!
What an amazimg atmosphere, great capture!!
the sea, the place were everything started. great atmosphere.
Wonderful hints of pastel in the sky and what a striking image, the sands of the desert coming right up to that stormy looking ocean! Gorgeous image, Carin!
Wow! The gradations of color are fantastic. The larger breakers in the middle distance bespeak power in this otherwise dreamworld. Note: Read Wilbur Smith's "The Burning Shore." This is the coast where his heroine washed up. A great adventure read.
A beautiful shot and scene Carin!
