Description

I'm catching up with your galleries slowly: I promise to get to everyone the next few nights! I was away for a week but I'm getting there! In the meantime... When I was away, some friends made a challenge: "Take two old pieces and combine them in Photoshop. Make 2 versions." Ok. * 1st piece: A pencil drawing from the 80s. (It's in my gallery.) * 2d piece: Two pen & ink ads from the 80s. (Also in my gallery.) * Third & fourth: I have no idea! I pasted them, stretched them, tortured them, read poetry to them, and these are the results. Just some Spring fun with old drawings in PS...
* * * * * * Have a fine Wednesday! And thanks for all your visits ~ they always mean the world to me! Peace, Mark

I wish I had your vocabulary and background to describe these Mark, but hunting around, there's not much here:-) But it is easy to see you've done a grand job of meeting and surpassing the challenge. I am still most comfortable with concrete images...meaning I understand them best...hence, your old pen & inks from the 80s are my favorites. Well done...and I'm working on the more abstract...need some more time...

And I'm drawn to your abstracts; read poetry to them, eh? That's a new one. I've painted with music but never poetry! Beautiful work, I think you did a wonderful job with the challenge!

I've read poetry to my seeds in the propagator, and play classical music radio in the greenhouse...... and of course I'm the opposite of Bill, I MUCH prefer the outcome! Superb, and really inspiring for me, so new to Photoshop.

OHH I have always loved your drawings. This soft old drawing of the brush is lovely and I really love your ink bottles. But you do really make so excellent abstract out of it too. BRAVO Mark.

Mark all I can say is this was a wonderful idea your friends had and I'm so glad you shared it with us. Combining them in such a magical way really breathed new life into them and creating two new images that inspire.

I have no idea what kind of poetry you read to these drawings (ever hear of "slam" poetry?? that kinda comes to mind!!), but wow--you sure got a response!! You start with your famous avatar, lead us to the simple b&w images next, then BAM, ZAP and holy moly!! You throw em right back in bright, huge full technicolor~~ twisted, turned, tweaked and totally topsy turvy (and how's THAT for alliteration!!). I LOVE it!!!

Two masterpieces. The only way I could do these paintings is: drinking the alcohol of the bottle and drawing the paintbrush but you mixed them with your imagination. Excellent work!!!

I am enchanted by the idea of reading poetry to one's art. :D It worked beautifully. The final version kicks a$$! (This will give Bill and I something else to talk about.) :|

put them in the blender, push the puree button, mix well, and voila, a perfect provocative abstract composition! And, love those colors and liquidy textures.

It's clear that your drawings/paintings responded to your poetry, Mark. A marvelous creation. The old becomes new again, a rebirth of sorts!
