Description
Typical 160 acre farm in western Missouri. Thought the long line of hay rolls was a bit unusual. Photo taken in February 2009 near the town of Weston, Missouri on the Missouri River. Farms here were first settled between the mid 1830s and 1860. Buildings are brightened by a late afternoon sun setting in the west.
Thanks for stopping by,
Bill:)

The hay bales do make for an interesting detail--what a classic old place!!
Thanks Bill for posting this. It's so different from anything we have in Oz. Even though I lived in the US for quite a while, I never made it down your way. It's beautiful to see such wonderful countryside. Visiting your part of the world is definitely on my list of things to do! Is that a haystack in front? I'm sorry if that is a dumb question!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Is just something about hay rolls. Like a way they run through a picture.
nice composition
Interesting how they place the rolls! Maybe a tidy mind! A superb pic, the are buildings so different from here.
gorgeous shot, Bill! you're up wayyy to late:)
As you say, "typical," but well-maintained. Good capture.
Great shot And composition Bill !! That is different seeing the hay bails arranged like that!! Here in Ia. it would make a great snow fence!!! tom
Great shot!!
Great perspective. Nice dept of field. Good show.
Marvelous Image!
Fabulous! Love the way the hay rolls bring you into the picture and the farm! Great shot. Well done! Rob.
Excellent image. I like the colors.
Great POV here Bill, the haystacks are a great forground addition.
Fantastic!
cool shot!!
Beautiful shot my friend Missouri is a gorgeous state
Neat picture. Literally. ----------------------- The hayrolls seem to protect the compound (flood?) P
Wonderful farm scene, Bill!! So pristine and clean around the barns! Shows how much they care about their place, even if somewhat sterile. Very nicely done!!!
I would love to see this place again in the late spring or early summer ... if you go for another drive out that way! :) It's a beautiful place, and the contrast between bare trees and all leafed out would be amazing!
Superlative POV, DOF and lighting in this grand vista, Bill! But, hay rolls? At first glance I could have sworn those were spools of barbed wire. Or better yet, a giant version of a garage door mechanism screwlike rod.
Beautiful Bill. I have never seen a roll of hay that long. How do they transport it?
very nice work bill.
oh, beautiful, the beauty of the gently rolling plain, you capture its poetry in your gallery many times. I've seen these hay rolls, but in your picture they have an almost grayish-silvery quality, like they were metal cable or even old twine. Amazing effect. I notice how often you capture landscapes with angles, to break the 'box' and allow us to see several angles at once. (Esp important in the US Midwest where boxy captures are all too common.) The trees in the background are soft, and that sky could almost be an ocean or some hills. And because of your angle, we see the farm & related buildings spread across the landscape very nicely. I'm close to this part of the world, this is a definite fav for me.
excellent countryside view....thanx for sharing!
a gorgeous shot, Bill and this hay rolls just had to be there, they add to the composition and make it a perfect shot. I do like the colors in this one too...smile
