Description
This is a companion piece to the photo I uploaded yesterday shown here.
Looking downriver.
This photo is from the same bluff overlooking the Missouri River from the Missouri side but looking southwest toward the city of Leavenworth, Kansas.
Thanks for stopping by,
Bill:)
P.S. The scenery right here is also pretty much as what we would have seen in 1850 if we were headed south on a river steamer. Steamboat was the primary means of transportation here until the railroad reached Leavenworth in 1866.

And again, just brilliant.Maybe a strange question but do you get much noise from the river? or does it just flow by in near silence. Whatever, a truly wonderful sight, thanks again.
My sister worked in Leavenworth for several years, now I know what she saw every day!!
Wonderful view with a trees stand as a guards overlooking a river.
I like this view best. Great photo.
Wonderful place. Excellent shot!!
'Those blue remembered hills'. That sprang to mind as soon as I looked. Gorgeous,
Good eye to put the colors in the foreground to contrast with the blues in the distance.
Fantastic image...
Very beautiful capture and description, brings me far away from the city and even back in time. Good trick, that.
Lovely view, Bill... that had to have been a difficult trek at times even if they could travel by steamboat.
excellent image!
Wonderful second showing of this beautiful land Bill.
Simply beautiful again, Bill! Stunning views - great colours! That's the spot! Put the shed there! Lol. Another wonderful image. Landscapes....Your forte. Rob.
Another beautiful scene Bill! Nice series!
Gorgeous view!
I like this shot multi-colored :) LOVE IT
Wowww...beautiful capture. Excellent!
Wonderful view of the river
I like this view even better than the previous post, Bill. All we need is a canoe on the river!
Clean, clear and crisp, just like your other azimuth photo, Bill! The area looks the same as it did during the Civil War, I suspect.
Just keeps getting better!
another fine shot Bill, this time with more trees in front of us which curtain the background nicely. I love the contrast between the browned out growth (now dormant) and the amber leaves of late winter; and the bluish gray forest across the river. That background really has a presence; and it ends in a nice blue 'fringe'. I can see the rule of thirds here, and the river cuts through it nicely, gently. I really like this shot.
beautiful to see the river through the trees and the wide view over the land... I really like this one...smile
